Transforming a weapon with Breath of Flame in Code Vein 2 does one thing: it permanently adds the fire element to every hit. It's a Weapon Transformation material — take it to any Jadwiga's Minion, select Transform Equipment, and the weapon you apply it to gains fire damage in exchange for some or all of its original scaling.
The result is a weapon that trades raw stat damage for elemental output, which can dramatically outperform an untransformed weapon against fire-weak enemies.
All confirmed Breath of Flame locations are documented on MapMaster's Code Vein 2 interactive maps.
Fusing Breath of Flame into a weapon at Jadwiga's workshop adds a fire element while typically reducing or removing the weapon's base physical scaling.
A strength-scaling sword becomes a fire-dealing weapon with weaker physical damage — the trade is specialisation, not pure upgrade.
This makes fire transformations most effective on weapons used in builds with high Mind or Willpower, where physical scaling was already underperforming, or when targeting enemies with confirmed fire weakness.
The fire damage is static after transformation; upgrading the weapon further with standard materials increases the base damage tier.
Breath of Flame is a rare material — rare enough that the game tracks it as purple loot rather than grey or white common drops. Each pickup you find in the world is a committed decision about which weapon gets the transformation.
World pickups (2 confirmed): One is in the Sunken Pylon — at the edge of the upper catwalk in the reactors' room, reached by climbing one of the two ladders on the ground floor.
A second is at Insula Carcere in the Present timeline, on the left side, after defeating the Forma Beast blocking the path.
Jadwiga's General Store: Breath of Flame is sold directly at Jadwiga's General Store in MagMell Institute — her store is to the left when facing the elevator.
It's not available from the start; VIP cards must be unlocked first by giving Uncanny Stones to Jadwiga in the pool table room after saving Noel in the past. Uncanny Stones are rare, making this a late-game shop option rather than an early route.
